With River is an intriguing new San Jose-based acoustic duo made up of veteran Texan folkie Philip Rodriguez and newcomer Colin Carthen. The two met at the now-defunct Espresso Garden in 2004. They perform at 8 tonight at Don Quixote's in support of their self-titled debut CD, which includes originals from both men plus cover tunes ranging from Charlie Monroe's "Mother's Not Dead" to Steve Winwood's "Can't Find My Way Home." It's awfully dour, but these guys have talent, and it will be interesting to see how they develop. Veteran acoustic guitar virtuoso Peter Lang opens. $10 in advance or $12 at the door. 6275 Highway 9, Felton.
